For my second assignment, I created the research question: “What was it like to live as a slave during this time?” Through my research, I found a picture of a Woman named Georgia Flournoy that is an ex slave. In the photo, she looks worn down, skinny, and overall not extremely healthy. This is one indication of the bad treatment she was given as a slave. The other primary source that I found is an audio recording of a former slave named Sarah Garner. It is an interview in which she explains how fast she had to work and the bad conditions she worked in.

Annotating sources for a public audience makes me want to do better research and get better answers for everyone I am posting publicly to. It also helped me to focus on what was important in my research instead of what may be less important information. For me, I really wanted to create something that others could easily navigate through and learn from. I never like to read through something that is confusing so the easier you make it for someone, the more likely they will be interested in learning more which is my ultimate goal.
